Our Story

Medomak Veterinary Services was founded in 1988 by Dr. Laurie Howarth. At that time the practice was largely run out of two small rooms in the back of Dr. Howarth's home. In 1991 the large animal part of the practice was discontinued in order to concentrate on the growing number of small animal patients and their owners. The practice was moved into our current facility on March 1, 2002.

In December of 2018 Dr. Howarth sold her practice and the facility to husband and wife team Drs. Art Charles & Bailey Gage. Since that time the practice has grown steadily to match the increasing needs of our mid-coast community. In an era of corporate medicine, MVS remains family owned and operated, and our focus has remained on continuing to build on Dr. Howarth's tradition of high quality, modern, and compassionate care.
